You can beat the narcissist at their own game by using a similar strategy. By using the same methods that they have used, but more successfully. So that you gain an advantage over them. You need to cause surprise and confusion in the narcissist. By not according with their expectations. By not doing what they expect you to do. The narcissist has been playing these games for a long time. They have more skills and experience. It's more important to them than it ever will be to you. So they will be willing to go all out to defeat you. They will be willing to risk it all just to take you down. So please be aware of the risks of beating the narcissist at their own game. If they're a malignant narcissist, they're not going to take it lightly. The narcissist has managed to defeat you up until this point, because you were unaware. You didn't know what was happening. But once you become aware of what they're trying to do, it's not as effective. Because now they're very predictable.
You already know what they're going to do before they do it. Because they do the same thing every time. It's very repetitive. Which then gives you power over them. Because you already know what's going to happen. If you want to beat the narcissist at their own game, just ignore them. Don't pay any attention to what they're doing. They might try to impress you with something they accomplished at work. And you could downplay it and act like it isn't a big deal. But if you really want to beat the narcissist at their own game, you can just say that it's really good. And leave it at that. Don't say anything else. But you're not giving it the amount of praise that they believe it deserves. You're not giving them the celebration they're used to. Which then makes them feel small. It makes them feel irrelevant. The narcissist will give you little digs. They will do anything to get under your skin. Because they want to destroy your self-esteem. They hate that you feel good about yourself. And when you react to what they're doing, it makes them feel better about themselves. But to beat the narcissist at their own game, you need to ignore what they're saying about you. You need to act like you didn't hear it. Or just pretend like you don't know what they're talking about. They like to mess with your mind, so do the same thing to them. Give them a taste of their own medicine and then watch how they react to it. Because they can dish it out, but they can't take it. They're weak, fragile people. They're very sensitive.
