A Narcissist's Silent Treatment Hurts Them MORE!!!

All of a sudden, the narcissist began giving you the silent treatment, which is something they weaponise against you. It’s meant to punish you. However, sometimes it can have the opposite effect, where you feel grateful for this moment of peace in your life. Other times, it can be a very painful experience because it makes you wonder what you did wrong or what you could do better. In reality, it’s not that you’ve done something wrong—they have an ulterior motive. It’s part of their manipulation.

But the truth is, it actually hurts them more than it hurts their victim. It can only hurt you when you’re unaware of what they’re trying to do. When you believe there’s a problem that needs solving, you may reach out to them, which is exactly what they want. That’s why they give you the silent treatment—they’re doing it for supply.

When they give you the silent treatment, you need to go silent too. Eventually, they will burn out. It will cause them to overthink why they’re not affecting you, and it will drive them insane. Even though they were the ones who stopped talking to you, now you’re simply matching their level of effort. You’re not doing anything wrong. In a relationship, it should be 50/50—there should be an equal amount of effort.

If they’ve gone silent and you respond in kind, they will experience a loss of energy and an inability to function effectively. Usually, they siphon stability and energy from you. Without that, they feel empty and hopeless because they want to use you as a vessel to dump their negativity onto. That’s why they deliberately try to provoke you. But now, all of that negativity remains within their minds, and they’re unable to reveal it to you. They don’t want you to know that they need you—it would injure their dignity and pride, especially after they’ve painted you as a horrible person. They’re meant to be punishing you by going silent.

They do this because they feel entitled to privileges or special treatment from you in return for a perceived insult or injury. That’s why they won’t withdraw their position of silence or admit they were wrong. They believe they’re inherently deserving of something from you. In reality, it’s because they’re incapable of sustaining themselves. They depend on you for their sustenance. By being immoral and dishonest, they’ve sold their souls and are now devoid of a sense of self, purpose, and connection to something greater than the physical world.

If you let them continue with their silent treatment, it will hurt them. They’ll become very angry and upset that you’re not communicating with them. They’ll wish you would communicate so they can say something to provoke you. They can’t withdraw their silent treatment because they see it as a weakness to start speaking to you. They lack the internal strength and character to do that. Instead, they ghost you. But when they do that, you can ghost them back. This will help restore your energy while they burn out.

Eventually, they will cave in. They might show up at your house or spy on you via social media. Whatever happens, there will be some form of contact or observation revolving around you because you are the source of their energy and stability. You keep them ticking over. Without you, they’ll fall apart. They’ll start picking fights with people or slamming doors. They’ll have to do something to try to trigger a reaction from you.

Their silent treatment isn’t a fool-proof plan to make you suffer. All you have to do is retreat within yourself. By doing that, they may try to contact you again. When they do, you must maintain your silence. That’s when the power dynamic will begin to shift in your favour. They like it when they can mirror you, but they don’t want you to start mirroring them. That will destroy them. It will reveal that their silent treatment isn’t working on you, which will anger and frustrate them. They may not reveal this to you, but it’s driving them insane.

You need to be very careful when you match their energy or persevere with your silence or no contact. You never know how they might react. They can become very dangerous when they lose their source of supply. When you continue with your silence or no contact, you need to be cautious. They’ll presume you’re no longer upset over them, which is not what they want. They want to be the source of your pain and suffering. It’s the only way they can survive emotionally—they’re dependent on you for that.

There’s no need to communicate your feelings of hurt to them. They’re already aware they’re damaging you, and they don’t care. That’s what they want. They constantly scan your facial expressions, body language, tone of voice, and even your text messages for any signs of pain or distress. It makes them feel powerful and significant, but only in the moment. It won’t have a lasting effect on them, so it will never be enough to sustain them.

As time passes, their frustration will grow. They’ll have to do something else to get your attention. No matter what they do, you must maintain your silence. There’s no point talking to them—they’re insatiable creatures who thrive on your suffering. Even if they did everything in their power to harm you and you remained stoic, they’d still not be satisfied. They’d start making accusations against you because they want more drama and carnage.

No matter what they do, you just have to remain silent. It will drive them insane because all they want is your reaction. This reveals that they’re really suffering. They give you the silent treatment in an effort to get you to chase them. If you start messaging and calling them, you’ll fall under their spell. Otherwise, they won’t listen. They don’t want to hear anything negative about themselves. Talking to them is a waste of time because you won’t get any sense out of them.

Let them be the first to speak. Let them initiate contact. By doing this, you’re letting their act of weaponising silence backfire on them. It will have the opposite effect of what they intended. Once you remove yourself, they’ll realise they need you far more than you need them. You can do better. Don’t let their silence affect how you feel about yourself.

When a narcissist goes silent, it’s typically because they know they can’t win the argument with you. They’re unable to justify themselves. They don’t have the words to defeat you because they already know you’ll show them they’re less important and clever than they think they are. You’ll remind them of their position, and they don’t want to be reminded of that. It would humiliate them entirely. It would make them feel ashamed and cause them to lose respect for themselves. Even their idea of self-respect is based on a false pretense—it’s based on their ability to deceive others rather than having genuine self-worth.

If they sense you might have anything negative to say, even if it’s completely factual, they’ll go silent. They don’t want to hear it. They’d rather live a lie. They premeditate plans to destroy you because all they want is to feel like they’re winning. They want to feel victorious, as though they’ve won a contest or competition. In reality, they’re the definition of a loser. You were put at a huge disadvantage by their actions, and you would have been far better off without them.

The truth is, they’re their own worst enemy. They cause most of their own problems because of their weak character and inability to take accountability for their decisions. They don’t want to accept themselves or you as you truly are. The reality of what they’ve become is too difficult for them to bear, so they conceal it.

Their silence will hurt them more than it hurts you. You’ve got nothing to worry about—there’s nothing on your conscience. They’re the ones trying to get to you, playing on your mind to make you think negatively. Normally, you wouldn’t think that way because you know you haven’t done anything wrong. No matter how events unfold, it will only hurt them. They’ll become heavily reliant on you for supply, showing an excessive need for your attention and admiration.

Any doubts you had about yourself weren’t even your thoughts—they were implanted in your mind through the narcissist’s gaslighting. You never thought that way about yourself before. It was orchestrated and premeditated. They rely on manipulation to control and influence you in a dishonest way. They misrepresent the truth and conceal facts to induce you to act to your detriment. If you’d known the truth, you never would have gone along with it.

Your belief gives them power—it’s what gives them supply. That’s why they need your connection and association. It’s what makes them feel alive. They can try to find another you, but they never will. They’ll never find someone so innocent and pure. They’ll never find someone who will believe what they made you believe.

On social media, they’ll act like they’re living their best lives, but it’s just to provoke you. They hope it will make you want to come back to them. They won’t speak to you directly but will act passive-aggressively. They experience so much frustration and constantly ruminate over you. That’s why their silent treatment eventually backfires on them—they’re their own worst enemy.

You have the opportunity to start a new life without prejudice or harm. They’ll never have that opportunity because they’ve never been judged. That’s why they’re constantly judging themselves. They display an excessively critical view of you because they judge themselves first. They know they’d inevitably fall short, so all they can do is leech off you. They try to get you to underestimate your own worth.

If you match their effort and remain silent, they’ll only put in more effort to control you. There will always be something underhanded rather than genuine or legitimate. That’s just where they’re at. They want to corrupt and deprave you, but you don’t need to engage with them on that level. Maintain your silence and continue doing what you need to do.
