This Makes The Narcissist IGNORE YOU

Narcissists will ignore you when they believe it will hurt you more than engaging in an argument. Being ignored can be a deeply painful experience, leading to feelings of self-doubt, a lack of control, and a sense of unworthiness. These are precisely the emotions they want you to feel, as it makes them feel important and in control—something they might not achieve through confrontation.

When a narcissist ignores you, they may:
- Avoid direct eye contact.
- Walk away quickly.
- Appear closed off or display a blank, unsettling expression to discourage interaction.
- Keep themselves busy with their phone, music, or messaging others while deliberately ignoring you.
- Give you the cold shoulder whenever you attempt to communicate.

This behaviour is often persistent, designed to make you believe it is normal. However, it is not. Narcissists use reverse psychology to gain your attention, leaving you feeling confused. If they wanted your attention, they could simply talk to you. But they can’t, because they already feel rejected—dismissed as inadequate, unacceptable, or defective. By ignoring you, they aim to make you feel the way they do.

Narcissists ignore you because they perceive something you said or did as disrespectful. In their minds, they are special and entitled to privileges and special treatment. If they feel you have failed to acknowledge their importance, they may interpret it as a slight, even if no disrespect was intended. This perceived offence triggers their need to regain control by ignoring you.

For example:
- You may have said "no" to them or rejected their demands.
- They may feel you are too confident or proud, which threatens their fragile self-esteem.
- They may feel unworthy of your attention and seek to make you feel the same way.

Narcissists are highly sensitive to anything that challenges their sense of superiority. Even minor, unintended actions can be perceived as disrespectful, especially if they are not receiving enough narcissistic supply (validation and attention). This insecurity drives their behaviour.

Ignoring you allows the narcissist to stabilise their mood and regain a sense of control. They may feel insecure or anxious when interacting with you, as it makes them feel powerless. By ignoring you, they shift the power dynamic in their favour.

However, this behaviour is not about you. It is a reflection of their arrested emotional development and inability to handle situations maturely. Narcissists struggle to take accountability for their actions. Instead, they:
- Blame others for their mistakes.
- Deny wrongdoing.
- Use tactics like gaslighting, projection, and blame-shifting to avoid responsibility.
When you hold a narcissist accountable, it triggers feelings of guilt and shame, which they cannot process. Ignoring you becomes a defence mechanism to avoid facing their own flaws.

Narcissists use ignoring as a form of reverse psychology. By creating a void, they make you crave their attention. If you reach out to them, it reinforces their belief that they are in control. They may:
- Read your messages without replying, leaving you with a "read receipt" to mess with your mind.
- Pretend you don’t exist, making you question your worth.
- Ignore your achievements or success, downplaying your efforts to make themselves the centre of attention.

This behaviour is designed to make you feel empty, unworthy, and dependent on them. Narcissists despise your independence and confidence because it highlights their own insecurities. They want to pull you down to their level, making you feel small and insignificant.

Over time, this dynamic can drain your energy and self-esteem. Narcissists take and take, offering nothing in return. They lack self-love and accountability, leaving them with nothing to give. No matter how much you invest in them, it will never be enough. Their void is insatiable.

As they age, narcissists often become angrier and more intolerable. They refine their manipulative tactics, becoming better at exploiting others. However, this does not make them better people—it only makes them better narcissists.

Narcissists ignore you to regain control, manipulate your emotions, and avoid accountability. Their behaviour is not a reflection of your worth but rather their own insecurities and emotional immaturity. Recognising these patterns can help you protect yourself and maintain your self-esteem.

If you find yourself in a relationship with a narcissist, it is essential to set boundaries and prioritise your well-being. Remember, you deserve respect, love, and support—qualities a narcissist may never be able to provide.
