1. Exposing Their False Image

Narcissists believe they are all-powerful, untouchable, and invincible. They think they can do whatever they want and remain unaffected by anything you do to them. They see themselves as grand and imposing, very important, and meant to be inaccessible and impossible to understand. However, this is just an illusion. When you realize this, it leaves them powerless. Exposing a narcissist is something they will never get over. They will forever hate you and desire to harm you because you have shattered their false image.

2. Losing Control Over You

This typically occurs with narcissistic parents but can also happen in relationships with possessive and controlling narcissists. When you regain control of your life and gain independence, it destroys their false reality. It causes them a great deal of disturbance, confusion, and uncertainty. They thrive on you being the accommodating subordinate, but your independence threatens their delusions of grandeur.

3. They Can't Replace You

Despite what they may try to make you believe, your supply is very rare. You gave them admiration, love, and respect, which inflated their sense of self-worth. When you separate yourself, it is a monumental experience for them. They may do something dangerous and unexpected in a desperate attempt to regain your attention because they lost a potent source of supply.

4. You Saw Through Them

In their minds, narcissists are always the hero or the victim. They can never do anything wrong and believe they are superior to everyone. This illusion is powered by your belief. When you see them as they actually are, they take it as an insult. They can't understand why you wouldn't be amazed by them. They will hold on to their bitterness and resentment and seek vengeance to bring you down.
